Splash Some Colours onto Your Wall

It is rightly said that an idea can change your life. It really takes an idea not heavy investment to make your dwelling a better place to stay at or call it home in real sense!

With chilly winter coming in let’s try something fun and constructive indoor. Upcycling has now become a trend, not only you can create something new from the old boring things lying in the corners, but can decorate home to your hearts content without shelling out a single penny.

Lets utilize leisure time of the season; spread some colours; and add some wow factor to your home. We always do complaint of leaves littering all over the garden, but never realised what a magical effect these can set onto your walls…. Don’t believe us??? get started with the below mentioned DYI Project and you’ll see what a transformational effect it can add to your walls.

Follow these simple steps to turn your home into a colourful paradise:

Collect some semi dry leaves (rose or hibiscus or any) or even petals can be used for this art. Wash it thoroughly and let the water dry out.

What else we’ll need:

  • Canvas panels (as per your requirement , multi-canvas paintings are quite popular these days)
  • Brushed Metallic Paint - (1 can of your choice)

  • Acrylic paint – (Pebeo, Daler Rowney, Camlin are a few brands you can try)

  • Paint brush – (1, choose wisely the thickness of the brush)

  • Newspaper or rough paper

How to go ahead:

As we are going to work with paints and colours  we would suggest you to cover the entire area with newspaper to avoid any spillage on your sparkling tiles or else you’ll have a tough time with the paints on your floor. It would be even better if you are working in a well ventilated area.

Now when your work place is all set, we can move on to our next step.

  • Paint your canvas with the acrylic paint of your choice (use some vibrant colours)img2

  • Place the leaf face-down on the canvas that you have just painted. You can place the leaf in slightly slanted position, diagonally or the way you want your final output to beimg3

  • Now start spraying the paint covering every inch of the canvas and the leaf.img4

(Caution: Before using spray paint, we would advise you to cover your face with mask or with scarf so you don’t inhale the paint particles)

  • Wait for a minute or two and then remove the leaf very carefully with pointed forceps or tweezers.

  • Let the painting dry-up completely.

You can always make some additions like drawing outline of the leaves or use some embellishments like small mirrors (round or rhombus shaped), even multicoloured buttons can be used to create something new.

Your masterpiece is now all set to dazzle. Let it hang on the wall of your living room or your study to add a fresh and vibrant feel to the room. Don’t forget to drop the compliments in comment box that you receive from your friends and family.
